My dad used to say the only thing as important as good driving is good parking - it can avoid accidents and inconvenience. Like driving, it takes time to learn how to do it; you have to get a feel for how big your car is and how close you appear to be to other vehicles. It will all come in time. I'm sure you can't be a crap driver - after all, you've passed your test. Relax, don't worry about it. Park where ever you feel comfortable with for now even if it's not the most convenient. Don't you take any notice of what others do or say - you've passed your test and you are in charge of that vehicle and you will do what you think is appropriate. You'll get into it and well done.

The best way is to go early if you can so there's not so many cars, this will give you more confidence, as you will know the space between the 2 lines well.
After a while you will be able esitmate what angle to approach space by swinging the car into a small curve just before you reach it. If your good at reversing into a nearly strait line the same principle will apply but making a backwards curve. Hope this helps and good luck and dont feel pressured by other drivers..

If you are really that frustrated by it I would advise you to take 1 additional lesson for about 1-2 hour/s just concentrating on parking. basically you need not to rush or worry about hold ppl up, because you will make more mistakes. make sure that before you reverse back into a space you are in a good position and that your wheels are as straight as poss. I'm still taking lessons, dont have any problems with parking my problem lies at the big roundabouts!
scarey,
Good luck & congrats on passing!

All I can say is practice makes perfect. If you have an open area of space, set up a parking space for yourself and practice pulling in and out. I did that before my parking test (which included car parks) and it really helped me. Hope this helps.

Get an empty car park and practice. Passing your test is only the first part of driving, now's the time you'll really learn.

Try practising in an empty car park, then get out and see how you have done. Make use of your mirrors. To keep straight when reversing a good tip is to look at an imaginary spot in the middle of the rear window.

you might of passed your test that doesn't make you a good driver, get a few more lessons and tell the instructor what bits of driving you need help with as well as parking get them to take you on dual carriageways and motorways and roundabouts as these are other areas that take a bit more experience, but don't worry taking extra training is a good thing, if you go for an advanced driver course it will even drop your insurance costs when you pass (even if you need to take more than one attempt)

Get yourself some road cones and set them up the same distance apart as the parking spaces in the car park. Practice parking between them like a buttload of times. You'll get it.

I am not good at parking. I find it easier to reverse into a space than go in forwards, its easier to line the car up properly that way, its easier to get out that way too.
