Yes apart from UK many other nations celebrate this day. Read the details -
Remembrance Day (Australia, Canada, Colombia, UK and Ireland), also known as Poppy Day (South Africa and Malta), and Armistice Day (UK, New Zealand and many other Commonwealth countries; and the original name of the holiday internationally) is a day to commemorate the sacrifice of veterans and civilians in World War I and other wars. It is observed on November 11 to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918. The observance is specifically dedicated to members of the armed forces who were killed during war, and was created by King George V of the United Kingdom on November 7, 1919, possibly upon the suggestion of Edward George Honey though Wellesley Tudor Pole established two ceremonial periods of remembrance based on events in 1917.
Veterans Day is celebrated in the United States on the same date, but the function of the observance elsewhere is more closely matched by Memorial Day in May. In the United States and some other allied nations November 11 was formerly known as Armistice Day; in the United States it was given its new name after the end of World War II.
Common British, Canadian, South African and ANZAC traditions include two minutes of silence at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month because that was the time (in Britain and France) when the armistice became effective. The two minutes recall World War I and World War II. Before 1945 the silence was for one minute, and today some ceremonies still only have one minute of silence despite this-.

The Poppy, although originalyl an American idea, has become the Commonwealtsh symbol of remembrance. Most nations also have their own personal forms of remembrance, but liek i said, the Poppy is the most universal

In the US it's referred to as Veterans' Day. It was renamed after WW II to honor all US war veterans. I've never known anyone to wear poppys here. And sadly, I'm sure there are many Americans who do not realize the significance of the date as the end of WW I.

We have remembrance day here in Belgium but we're clever, we don't spend our money on poppies, we get a day off work. That's gratitude for you ;-)

Having been to Auschwitz i'm able to blatantly say the Holocaust is a load of crap. for sure 5-7 million Jews died it particularly is no longer up for debate, yet its a real understatement, and easily genocide. The biblical term holocaust skill sacrifice, sacrifice likewise skill giving up something for something else of equivalent or greater desirable value. properly we lost some people on the top of WWII, yet what did we earnings? usually people purely prefer to renowned Jews dieing. properly 3 million Poles died, and with the blended style of Gypsies and homosexuals that quantity rises to 5 million. So rather 11 million died. i think of its tragic that we purely care approximately 6 million, while 20 million chinese language died. apart from the holocaust grew to become into placed an end to place no longer via allies that have been morally upright. the U. S. and Britian have been bombing civilian objectives to maximise causalities, the belief in the back of this grew to become into to lead them to end the conflict and spare the international this mess, yet that doesn't replace the undeniable fact that they have got been committing conflict crimes, and the Soviets have been dealing with villages raping. around 3.2-5 million ethnic German civilians died during the conflict .. and so on and so on. finally achieving a grand entire of 70 million ineffective. i think of we could get greater out of the holocaust if we appeared at it as a bleak time in background the place guy destroyed one yet another, and their sacrifice grew to become into to coach us that it could in no way take place returned. no longer that it could in no way take place returned to a undeniable team. ignore the chinese language....
