I interviewed him for a gay magazine when he was promoting 'Jeffrey' - a film where he plays a gay character. He's very straight and actually really, really cool.
He's originally from West Yorkshire and I'm from East Lancashire so we got on like a house on fire. My gaydar didn't even register a blip from him and if he was gay he'd most definitely be open about it.
I'd go for a Patrick Stewart lookalike if I were you!

In 1964 he met the Old Vic's choreographer Sheila Falconer and they married on March 4, 1966. They had two children — Daniel Freedom Stewart and Sophie Alexandra Stewart — but divorced in 1990. They doesn't of course necessarily mean he is not gay - he keeps his private life very private now.

What does 'funny monk' mean exactly when he refers to Patrick Stewart as being 'fully functional'. It seems to me that to be fully functional implies that the other (straight or gay 'cos i'm not sure which one he means!) has some kind of defect? Warped!
