There were experimental films made at the very beginning of movies, and colored sequences in many (if not most) silent films. The 1925 Phantom of the Opera had color sequences, as did Cecil B. DeMille's The King of Kings...
But the first commercial feature color film was 1935's Becky Sharp, though DIsney produced a color animated film in 1932.
