Have you installed the latest software update? If you have, I would suggest reverting to factory settings and reload your playlist. It seems these guys get corrupted just like a normal harddrive and need a reinstall periodically. Perhaps Apple needs a defrag program.

Do the 5Rs of ipod... of course, if all the 5Rs did not work like what happen to my ipod, bring it to an Apple care centre.

In my case, the techs there told me, my ipod circuit was fried, so no point of the 5R!!! And worse, over here in singapore, either i buy a new one or spend the same to pay for repairs.. (I did get 1for1 replacement previously when my ipod bat is dead and it showed similar symptoms..)

Hope yours is still recoverable...

call apple and let them take care of it. tell them you want a new one. if it's under warranty they may even give you a new one.
