I live in Latvia, but plan on studying in the UK. I know that the A-levels are basically the same as our exams at the end of 12th grade. And UCAS has its 15th January deadline. We get our results only in July. So how am I supposed to work that out?

A-level results aren't known until somewhere around the same time, too, right?

I'm confused.

Thanks in advance for any help

To enter University, you will need UCAS point's. Each candidate will get a prediction of their A Levels from their tutors, and apply with that score.

Your Latvian qualifications will have equivalent UCAS points, in this country, so you can apply for a place, which if you interest the University, will be offered to you.

When your qualifications are confirmed, you can accept the place, or if they were lower than expected, apply to the university to consider you. If you have already received your scores,m then you won't have to sweat it out over the summer lol.

best of luck

In the UK everyone applies to UCAS without A level results - that's the system. The school says what they expect you will get, then the University basically says "OK, if you get these grades we will accept you" and that's called a "conditional offer". If you get the grades they ask for, you are accepted. If you don't, there is an alternative process called "clearing". It is entirely normal and although they are talking about changing it in the next few years, that's how its been here for decades.

Congrats, Michael! I am closing in on level 5 too, so we should all share. It seems like a delicious idea to me. What do you think? Lol, I always wondered what the points on Y/A mean, I mean what's the point of points if they don't lead to something? Anyway, I'm happy for you that you reached a new level! Keep up the good work!

You might have to wait until you get your results, so basically wait a year.

However, your english is perfect (judging by the question you have asked) so phone the uni you want to apply to and ask- they are usually very friendly to foreign students, so go for it!

You will need to look the university up on the internet- find their website and phone or email the department you are interested in studying in. They may help you and it will be a first point of contact. They never want to turn students away.

All the best.

You should be able to write what your predicted results are and say that these are your predicted results. Then if you also explain that you do not get your results until July they should accept this

Have a polite word with UCAS. They may have solved it without telling anyone.

your tutors/teachers have a part to fill in on the form and there is a section for them to predict what they think you will get based on your past and current performance. Good luck

They have all the grades (A B C D E U) but they should also have a "Pending" option for grades you don't have yet.
