Karen Carpenter is dead and Kiki Dee is a one hit wonder with a duet with Elton John

No she died. Kiki Dee is a singer of a considerably lesser pedigree, however she did have a number one hit in the UK with Elton John with a duet entitled 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart'. As a matter of co-incidence, it was also Sir Elton's first experience of being at the top of the hit parade.

Small correction, if I may : her name was "Karen Carpenter",
unfortunately she died on an early age of anorexia nervosa.

Given the succes she and her brother had with "The Carpenters", I think she would never change her name to Kiki Dee. (who only had one real hitsong, together with Elton John)
