It really depends what kind of person you are, either a cat person or a dog person. Cats are usually more relaxed and gentle and dogs are usually more wild and energetic.

it depends.
If you want an animal that you can play with. Then you definitely want a dog. Also, for the most part dogs are more loyal, cats can be stubborn. Dogs, unlike cats, will also be able to protect if that's what you are looking for in a pet.
Cats however can also make great pets. Cats are much more laid back than dogs. They don't need to be taken for walks and need little more exercise than what they get playing around the house. You are most likely better off with a cat if you want an animal that you can just sit with, relax, and pet it. Depending on the size of the dog, cats eat less, also.

If you will ask a pet store, invariably they will tell you that the age of the one who will take care of the pet is the most important consideration.
Otherwise, the mother in the home ends up taking care of the pet, and when she gets overwhelmed with work, the pet goes off to the animal shelter.
On the assumption that this purchase is for an adult, because younger kids are notoriously incapable of constant care, it depends on preference. You cannot saddle a dog lover with a cat, and vice versa.
Both cats and dogs are great pets . If the house has more dog lovers than cat lovers, there is a better chance that the animal will be loved, cared for, and cherished in that house. And they will be considered the best pet.

i personally think dogs make better pets, but it really depends on what type of a person u are. i tend 2 think of "meet the parents" when comparing cats & dogs. the father says that people tend 2 like dogs better becuz they need approval right away, but that cats may not like u as well @ first, but they will be more commited or something like that.
he makes it sound like dog-lovers are dumb, but w.e. lol

I have both and see pros and cons to both. dogs need you to follow a schedule to feed and walk, cats don't, cats are stubborn and sleep all over you like your a piece of furniture nd you can't really play with them like you can play with a dog. cats are easier in the sense you don't have to housebreak them, they pretty much pickup on kittly litter very quickly. I hope that helps a little

Cats!! They're easier to take care of, you don't need to walk them everyday & they're much cleaner! some cat owners "toilet train" thier cats, & ofcourse, they're more quiet!
I had a dog & it wouldn't stop barking, it waz soo loud, & I had to clean up after him all the time, unlike my cat, she'z beautifly trained to "do the job" in the toilet! ..
But it really dependz on what each endivisual thinks & prefurez..
Hope I Helped.

I like all animals.
Cats are relaxing, sit in my lap and purr.
Dogs are fun for "Rough-Housing" and are good for getting motivated.
Do not rule out Birds. A small Parakeet is very interactive when able to fly free and they not require much food. Cats like them too. ;-D

I'd say dogs because they are more used to help humans in everyday life than cats: you got police dogs, dogs that lead blind dudes, firefighting dogs,..

If your house catches on fire the dog will bark and wake you. The cat will quietly sneak out the back door .....
