Hi. I am a RN and and many things can contribute to swollen tender breasts...even a chest cold! Most people don't know that. Take a pregnancy test if that is a possibility. If negative then yes probably just hormones. I would lay down and put your hand on that side behind your head and feel your armpit region for swelling also. Sometimes your lymph nodes can get swollen. If they are then go to the doctor. Could be nothing, could be something. Too much caffeine can cause the lymph nodes to swell which in turn causes the breast to hurt. Start at step one and take it from there okay. Good Luck and feel better soon! Tender breasts hurt! Oh, Ibuprofen works great!

well , you could be pregnant ! But with the irregular period you;re having it's hard to say . If the period does not come back in a couple of days , Take a EPT test , from Walgreens . Or make an appointment with your doctor , to find out if yu're pregnant . You know getting the pill will make you also more regular with your period !

My breasts get sore from time to time, and usually it is only one of them. I suggest giving yourself a good breast exam, get to know what your breast feel like during, after and before your periods, they do tend to change through out the month. If the tenderness sticks around for more than a couple of days, I would seek professional help. Good luck.

my periods have never been regular.... alot of girls join us in this same problem... i have also been pregnant... the same hormones that make your breast tender at the begining of pregnancy are the same ones that make ur breast tender during your period... stress can also delay your peiod... so the more you stress about being pregnant the longer u will wait... my advice... go to the nearest drug store and get a home pregnancy test... if not for nothing else but piece of mind! GOOD LUCK!!

could be both reasons, breast tenderness is common in the first stages of pregnancy, but also some women complain of breast tenderness when they are due. do a pregnancy test to rule out one or the other. if your breast remains sore, get it checked by the doctor, it may be your gland that is swollen

My breasts are sore but not swollen when I am premenstrual. Swollenness is usually a sign of pregnancy. It seems like you are irregular so it's good you are not jumping to conclusions. If it doesn't come within a week or two I'd say take a preg test to put your mind at ease.

Sounds like PMS to me. If you still don't have your period in a few weeks (2+), buy a home pregnancy test.

my dear, when I was 15 I had a 6-month pause between my periods! and then it came all by itself. it's just the hormones, so be patient and take it easy. for your peace of mind, go see a gynecologist.
