I really had to try my hardest to not buy an Xbox 360, and wait for the PS3 (whose release is in 8 days). But I really believe once word gets out, that the PS3 will be on a different level. I think the built in Blu-Ray feature is enough to sell me on it. What are your opinions. And for you that are XBox loyal, what's your argument for Xbox 360. Price is not a factor when camparing here, just performance.

I think once they start to push the graphic ability of the console it will be awesome. This first year, you'll see simiilar games as when the Play Station 2 release (probably including another Ridge Racer). I'm looking forward to purchasing one after the holidays. My husband has our Playstation 2 and Xbox 360 with him and he's been deployed since last January.

See, here is a stickling point for me in the Console Wars - I don't believe anything truly innovative has been introduced to the scene since the Dreamcast (R.I.P. big guy). Sure, PS2 has great graphics at the time; sure, Xbox had even better graphics and introduced Xbox Live; sure, the Gamecube had.. 43 Mario Party games ; the fact, though, is that they took what was already there and just added bigger cajones to them. Nothing they did revolutionized the gaming world the way the Dreamcast, SNES, the Gameboy or even the Atari did - they just improved on it. And, alas, just because it's been done before doesn't mean it can't be improved upon, and Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo have put out some seriously excellent stuff in the name of competition. We the gamers are the ones that reap all the benefits, too, given we have the money to plunk down for it all.

Now as for the PS3 and Xbox360, telling which one would be a better choice would be unfair right now as the PS3 isn't even out. You've seen some stills and some demo footage for the games coming out, but take another look at the launch line-up - it suffers the same problems the 360 did this time last year. Hardly anything original to speak of is present, and everything else are multi-platform or older titles rehashed for quick revenue. The 360 is now getting quality titles that really showcase the hardware's capabilities, a year into its life cycle - you should expect nearly the same for the PS3, and realize that what comes out in the next year will be not be a tried-and-true indicator of what the system is worth. If you want the better-quality titles and don't mind paying for your online gaming, the 360 is a great choice. If you like the idea of free online gaming at the (temporary) cost of a smaller library of games (backwards-compatible titles discluded here, but important to keep in mind), then a PS3 would be a good buy. The graphical differences will not really be apparent until 1080p TV's are more comfortably priced and readily available to the public. And as for the HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray thing.. 95% of the people watching the movies will not notice the differences between the two until it's pointed out to them and dissected, given the aforementioned shortage of 1080p TVs, so whatever floats your boat.

Oh, and as for the earlier blurb about innovation - get a Wii.

I think if you have the assets, you should get both.
Technically, I believe that they both have the same processing power, even though the spec. numbers may be higher for one system compared to another, it really is determined by how a game developer can best use the systems power to the best of its ability. So some games may look better on the PS3 and some may look better on a Xbox 360. Really it depends on how well the developer knows the system he is developing for. But in actual performance, I believe that they are on the same level.

But, I'm not sure that the PS3 will out sell the Xbox360 for the simple fact that Sony did not produce enough.

I'm a PS person all the way. Playstaion has always been ahead of the game.

When 360 came out look at all the issiues it had. When PS3 comes out it should have no issiues cause japan took care of them all for us (that is what I have heard)

Plus Blue Ray is better than HD from what I have heard.

Look at all the games for the PS vs the games for Xbox.

I just wish they would have made alot more than they did to take care of all the people that want on now cause of all the deley's the have had with it.

i have a 360 and love it, but i think the ps3 will overrun the 360 because sony seems to have taken the time to work out the bugs in their system (not saying that there wont be any, but i think they will be less than the 360's had) plus the ps3 offers hdmi and like you said blu-ray, the ps3 will be victorious against the 360 for sure.

Well, I LOVE my 360 (Call Of Duty 2!) but most likely I will put $700 dollars or so and camp out at Target. Also, even though nobody likes it, 2 days after the PS3 comes out I most likely will be suckered into buying a Nintendo Wii. Soooo...that sucks.

XBOX 360 is just as good, if not better than the PS3. So why spend $600 dollars on a PS3, when the 360 is only $400?
