It really depends on the size of the hoods you are using. Are we talking little red riding hood size? If so, quite a few. Now if we're talking more like the Robin Hood size, quite considerably less, and when you get up to the kind I saw Rosanne Barr wear once, you only need one or two.

There are many woods that are used in building boats. It depends on where you are and what is available.
