We have 6 children also and found ourselves faced with the same problem, but it didn't take us very long to discover our new found freedom was such a benefit... we kayak, fish, travel.. the possibilities are endless. Enjoy your freedom and treasure the moments you share... it's a relationship renewal program that we should have subscribed to long ago. LOL good luck.

it's ok to feel your loss but also move on. get busy with things you've put off while taking care of the kids. painting, writing, photography whatever. and if you didn't have interests you put off find some now. work in the yard, make it a special place for you. if you like go out and join groups. get involved in volunteer work. you may at times still feel a loss but you won't be stuck there.

take up a hobby join a club or something.if you really love kids why not think of fostering .,after having 6 kids you have years of experience to pass on ,also local community groups are always looking for helpers to get involved ,helping old people and youth groups ,always something to do just you will have to make a start yourself make a few calls .good luck. also wont be long and the grand children will start to arrive you will be very much in demand then

As a recent empty nester myself, I found that getting pets helped to ease the silence in my house. I have 2 dogs that I wouldn't trade for the world. Companion animals have many health benefits as well. Statistically, people tend to live longer and also be happier with that kind of enrichment. For example, every day when I get home, my Great Dane absolutely needs to give me a great big hug, while my chow mix tells me all about their day. (he barks a lot) Pets are a lot like children in many respects. They look to you for all of their needs, and the love that they give in return is priceless.
I hope this helps, and good luck.

Sometime this is life. When you are alone and you think about the days you had with them, you will feel lonely and lost. To counter this problem, i recommence you to take up more social activities. You can even work OT if you want to. Keep yourself busy and i think you will not feel that loss after some time.

My parents did a lot of volunteer work and really spiffed up their yard with new landscaping. They also went on trips they couldn't afford when we were all at home!
