I was looking at a car to buy. The owner say that the passenger window is off track and need to be reset. Is it expensive to fix something like that?

No. If you have any friends that know anything at all about Cars they should be able to fix it in 30 min. Unless something is broke causing it to fall off track. Even if that's the case it shouldn't be more than $75.00. although if it is electric & the motor is burnt up your looking at 1 to 2 hundred.

The problem is most likely a window regulator. Simply putting the window back in the track does not mean is will stay there. The regulator is the assembly that holds the bottom of the window and moves it up and down. Depending on model and if they are power windows or not, the part will be $70-$150, dealer only. The good news is it's easy to change, pays just over half an hour.
