It depends on my partner.
If I dance with some guy in a club, then I put my arms on his shoulders and maintain an elbow to shoulder length space between us--close enough to be interesting (if I find him interesting), and far enough not to touch. I move my body to the beat of the music, and I let him set the pace. He, too, should be moving his body to the beat.
If I dance with my father, at a wedding, for example, I use the traditional frame: right hand up (to join with his left hand), left hand on his shoulder--(that would be left hand up for him, right arm around the waist). Again, the man leads, using his left arm to move the lady about. If it is not with my father, but with a much hotter guy in a formal situation, it is okay to break the space barrier and move in as close as comfortable.
If I am with MY man, I press my body into his, and we move as one person. It is like having sex, standing up, with clothes. I just fall into him, and he leads me--I am silly putty. My favorite songs Love Bites by Def Leppard and Your still the One by Shania Twain. However, we have slow danced to fast songs, too, just because we like each other that much...!
So, the man leads and the woman follows. Slow dance is all about swaying, slow and seductive movement, magical little twist and twirls here and there. If you are female, just relax your body. If you are not dancing right, then your partner is a lousy dancer. If you are male, let the female choose the body/ arm position and determine how close or how far she wants to be. You don't need to do anything spectacular--just keep the frame, sway to the music, making a circle (go clockwise and counterclockwise, just to mix it up). Don't do anything that is not indicated by the rythm of the music--unless you really really like and know your partner.... then, have your way with her and end it with a big hot dip backwards and a kiss....

OK, this will be hard to type out, but here goes. Slow dancing has a lot to do with the old-school dance, the waltz, with a three count. Count out loud to your self one-two-three, one-two-three. Essentially, envision a rectangle on the floor. With your left foot, step to the top-right corner. That's on the one. Bring the right foot up beside the left foot on the two. On the three, you basically don't do anything but make sure both dancers are at the same place. On the next time you count one, you can turn (usually like a half turn) in a slightly different direction.
That's about it. Any slower song will do for this. And if you ask anybody that is above the age of 30 to show you a 'box step' they'll show you this. Good luck!

If you've gotten a video digicam, tape the practice session and watch what the folks who understand what they are doing are doing. Then repeat it at house, gambling it time and again, although you are simply looking in the beginning, and you can get a dangle of what to do. Also, be positive. I understand, I understand. What? Confident! I haven't any suggestion what I'm doing! But in case you have that perspective it is going to exhibit for your efficiency and folks will experience that you're uncomfortable and be looking you nearer subliminally. If you've gotten trust, although you reduce to rubble, simply preserve going, do not reside on it, and folks will detect a LOT much less. Good good fortune! I'm now not a dancer both however that is how I bought by way of the entire musicals I used to be in in prime institution! :-)

If you watch any romantic movie you'll get what it's sort of like. I flamenco so I don't know if there are any sort of specific ways to slow dance, basically when I slow dance I have my hands on the girls' hips or around her waist and she has her hands on my shoulders or sort of around my neck. Or the same as the previous way but I hold her hand with one of my hands and you just keep stepping lol. Just relax when you come to slow down and you'll get it.
