Have you heard the rest of that saying? Love is blind but marraige is an eye opener. It doesn't happen at first sight. That's an infactuation. Some people are in love with the idea of being in love and love and first sight and infactution can be confuse for the other.

The most instantaneous connection I felt was for an Aquarius Sun/Taurus Moon/Scorpio Rising/Pisces Mercury/Aquarius Venus/Pisces Mars. We're still very close and have an unshakeable bond. "love is blind" means that love does not see the others faults
"love at first sight" describes a phenomenon of feeling an instantaneous romantic connection.
I agree that the pairing of these two statements is incongruously funny.
