Simplistic to the extreme...Osama is pretty much out of the picture. He can't do much from a cave in the wilds of Pakistan. Sending orders by Carrier pigeon doesn't work in this era.
We are fighting a losing war because we are *far* to worried about world and leftist US opinion. We should take the gloves off and not be bothered about civilian deaths or a blown up Mosque or 50.

Well, that sort of thinking is exactly how we were unable to connect the dots before the 9/11 attack.
We were handling the terrorist threat like a law enforcement matter going after specific terrorist that had already committed attacks. Now we know it is necessary to attack the terrorist before they can launch their attacks and dismantle the governments that support them.
I think the war in Iraq has been mishandled but it requires a lot more troops to contain Iraq as we were doing before the war than it took to procecute the war. Now we're stuck if we leave it in chaos we are creating a place for terriorist to use as a base of operations.
I do think we need to go after Osama, but to focus solely on his group would be a mistake, however, loosely connected these various terrorist groups are they all share the same goal which is to kill you, and me. To focus on Osama only is to have tunnel vision and set yourself up to be blindsided, just like 9/11.

If I was to bet all that I had.. I would STILL bet that he is on the Afghanistan/Pakistani border and being protected in the hills by a particular tribe of individuals from Pakistan. If people really wanted him dead, that would be a good place to land a nuclear bomb... Fighting a losing war.. Yes.. Just like Vietnam.. Our own people(left wing politicians, such as Durban, Reid, Palosi, John Kerry, and others are aiding the enemy ini their fight against the U.S.)

We are in Iraq, and fighting terrorism, which is very real and very much alive and well.
Cut n run is not an option.
As to your red herring question about Osama, I doubt he's even still alive.

Because, as Bush said in his campaign before he was elected, on his desire to get Saddam out of power "because he tried to kill my daddy". Sole reason. Revenge of the Bushes.
