Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (later Lenin) was the leader of the Bolsheviks and when they came to power he implemented some 'people friendly' policies to keep the Bolsheviks popular. They included giving land to the peasants (muzhiki) who had, until then been owned by the landowner and likewise he gave control of the factories to the workers.

P.S. Don't know if it was a typo but Lenin has one 'n', not two.
