On TV - The 1990 World Cup Semi Final, England v West Germany. OK, so England lost but life went on.
Live - Brighton v West Ham in about 1978 when I were just a lad. The Goldstone Ground was filled to capacity, the atmosphere was electric, and I saw some of my fave footballers all on the same pitch at the same time, one of the players gave me a stick of chewing gum, the sun was shining, the weather was sweet, and I cant even remember what the score was.

When I was 11, my father took us all to the 1960 Rome Olympics. He got some amazing tickets: every athletic final except for the day of the long jump final, great tickets for the USA Brazil basketball game, a swimming day (for mum) and, perhaps most amazing, the boxing finals where I saw Cassius Clay win his Gold Medal. (now of course we couldn't have been any farther away from the ring and still have been in the arena, but nevermind). All that and Rome in 1960. A wonderful memory and a spectacular time.

I love watching the olympics and winter olympics, and off course any sport that england are playing in as a team.
The best match i saw was when i was 17 and 18 a bus full went to watch england in a friendly at wembley one year we played portugal and the other moldova we won both games. it was a fantastic atmosphere and the guys on the bus on the way back were pulling moonies at the spice girls fans as the had a concert on in wembley areana. Very good experience and fun.

dale earnhardt winning the 1998 daytona 500 on his 20th try. he had come so close to winning it so many times, in his first 19 tries, he had led every single lap (laps 1-199) at one time or another except for lap 200, the final lap. he was leading on the final lap 4 times before, only for something to go wrong. in 1990 for example, he cut a tire down in turn 4 of the final lap while leading. one year he hit a seagull while leading with about 30 laps to go, causing his car to overheat. and then when he finally won it on his 20th try, every crew member from every team lined up on pit road to congradulate him, something that had never been done before, and has never been done since. NASCAR fan or not, no one watching that live would have been able to keep a dry eye, it was truely moving.
2nd choice: when my dolphins beat the 13-0 chicago bears on monday night football in 1985. to this day, that game still has the highest TV ratings of any game in monday night football history.

I love watching the Olympics, or the World Cup...For me, these are the main 2. If there is a major (and I mean big time!) World Title Boxing fight, then I would be interested too.
