I can't imagine you being the cause. I mean, do you buy food and only eat half and throw the rest away. If so, you are still not the cause, but you're not helping really either. I have to say, the US is pretty spoiled as to what we can do and what we waste everyday. I truly have no sources, this is opinionated.
