A motorcycle helmet has a single pane shield. The weather, when riding a motorcycle, is usually warm enough that the shield will not fog up. Motorcycle helmets are D.O.T. approved and sometimes SNELL approved. Snowmobile helmets have a double paned shield to reduce fogging of the shield due to the colder temperatures. Snowmobile helmets are often D.O.T. approved but rarely SNELL approved. The SNELL approval means that the helmet passes more tests than a helmet that does not have the SNELL approval. Also there is no difference on how they should fit. A properly fitted helmet will feel snug but not too tight and not too loose. Hope this answered your question.

A snowmobile helmet offers more warmth and most all of them protect the chin/jaw . They also have a vent to help stop fogging in the shield. Motorcycle helmets can allso offer full protection,but most only offer very little at all. Don't get me wrong they are better than no helmet at all.
I ride Snowmobiles and Motorcycles. I don't like wearing a helmet while rideing my motorcycle....but in NYS it's the law. I like wearing a helmet while on my snowmobile...because it keeps me warner. I'm also a EMT and believe it or not Helmets do save lives.

A snow boarding helmet fits around your head a little more loosly. A motorcycle helmet is more snug, and more protective on how it is made. I suggest if you want to buy a motorcycle or snowboard that you use the correct gear.

To jinks;
He said snowMOBILE not snow board!

I wouldn't think there's much difference between the two. But just to be sure, I think I'd call the local motorcycle shop or sports store and ask them.

On top of how they fit,...I believe motorcycle helmets are made to be able to handle more impact. I don't know for sure my hubby and I don't wear them on our bike.
