Well, Becky, you've just had a Close Encounter of the Weird Kind.
I've known a few people like this over the years, so let's examine these allegations one at a time.
To begin with, Benjamin Franklin observed that "Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead." If there is a good possibility that a secret that three living people know of will get out, what is the security risk if there are thousands of individuals are involved? The more people who know something covert, the greater likelihood that it will leak.
I suppose, then, that your conspiracy theorist would insist that elderly Jewish people had themselves tattooed with serial numbers and have lied for so long about conditions in the concentration camps that they believe it--and not only Jews, but Poles, Dutch, French, Gypsies, gays, political dissenters--the list can go on and on. And did all these people fake the German documents recovered as World War II ended in Europe? Were the photographs of people who were liittle more than living skeletons also set up?
The Rape of Nanking took place in 1937-38--hello?--we didn't get into it with Japan until they attacked Pearl Harbor four years later. And we were involved with negotiatoins right up until the attack became known in Washington!
Nanking was documented by medical personnel (I suppose the Red Cross was a part of this conspiracy, too!) who attended the victims. I don't think any exaggeration was needed--the facts themselves would sicken anyone. Try to imagine an American city taken over by a bunch of Saddam Hussein's death squads and you'll come close to what the residents of Nanking experienced.
The moon shot--oh, this is by far the greatest. Again, can your informant come up with the address, names, or any shred of proof that it was staged in a London warehouse? I doubt it--it's been my experience that conspiracy theorists are quite long on theory but sadly lacking in anything to back it up.
Judge for yourself, Becky. Don't be afraid to think for yourself, either.

The Holocaust was a real event. I have traveled across Europe and have actually spoken with older German folks who while not actually nowing what went on knew that something terrible was going on. I have seen the gas chambers and the ovens. Those events did happen. Too hard to have faked photographs back then of all the emaciated prisoners.
Hanjing Massacre ?? Well the Japanese Government has owned up to it. Albeit they admitted to a lower body count, but they have admitted up to it so that should tell you that it did in fact occur. The only thing open for debate is the body count.
Lunar Landing ?? Now on that one.... I will have to say I just dont know. I mean I was barely alive and had no clue about it (Am only 40). At that time the US had to look good in the worlds eyes as we were second to launch anything into space. Otherwise the world was going to fall in to the Communists hands. So did the US have the technology to fake the lunar landing in the early 60's ?? Yes they did. Did they actually fake it ?? I dont honestly know. I hope not.

1. The Jews did not suffer in Germany because there was no Holocaust. Actually it was the Jews that was torturing the poor blond haired deprived Germans. Those tattoos on the Jews arms and hands that are still alive today (by the grace of God) are really there because they want to be hip.
2. We knew the Japanese were going to bomb Pearl Harbor before they did. I mean come-on President Roosevelt liked the thought of our boys baking inside the Battle Ship Arizona before they died. The President was looking for a better way to get a good nights sleep.
3. America did not land on the Moon. We payed billions of dollars for the 360 foot Saturn 5 rocket so we could look at it and say wow that is a big rocket. We kept approx. 400,000 technicians, scientists and construction contractors quiet, with zero leaks to the public. The rocks that we thought that came from moon and have proved to be from the moon are really from the Pacific Ocean.
4. The Mafia whacked JFK, via the Russian connection, via the Cuban connection. The man on the grassy knoll was a CIA agent acting on direct orders from Marcello of New Orleans at the acquiescence of Giancana of Chicago and communications with Castro and Kruschev (did i leave anyone out?).
5. Aliens landed in Roswell and we transported them to Area 51 to back engineer their technology, where do you think the stealth air craft came from? Again, we kept it secret by brain washing the thousands of workers who were in on the scam.
6. The Moon we see every night is really not there along with the planets and stars as well the Planet Killing Asteroids. Those were put there by the evil United States to toy with our minds.
7. Fossils of early homosapiens, homoerectus and earlier models were put their by evil paleontologists, athropoligists, and assorted rock hounds looking to enhance their careers, Creation is the real objective reality.
8. America is a conspiracy and is a fake country and none of us Americans really live here.
9. I was never born so this response to your question is a fake.

The world is full of strange people with their own distorted beliefs of world events and history. While the moon landing is hotly debated I believe it happened and so do most people I think. The holocaust is kind of hard to deny I think based on historic footage of the liberated death camps and survivor accounts of what happened and as far as US resentment towards Japan, well Pearl Harbor was all the US needed to go to war against the Japanese.Make your own opinions on what you see and believe and let the conspiracy people ramble on and prove themselves to be the paranoid fools that they are.

People will believe whatever makes them feel better. Conspiracies are believed because folks want to see patterns and reasons behind the things that are random and reasonless, such as terrorism, assassinations.
Who wouldn't rather think the Holocaust never happened, that Hitler wasn't really all that evil, and that all those innocents didn't die?
And who wants to believe a lone nut could kill a President?

However there has been many things which were faked in history, we must not fall in the opposite alternative to say all is wrong. For holocaust, it is sure that a Great number of Jews were slaughtered. Perhaps the number of 6 millions was too high. But if that people were not killed where are they gone. For nan kin massacre, it is the same. MY father who is now dead, nether believed that a man was sent to the moon and when I reported this to him he said. To believe such ineptness, you should not have studied.

This conspiracy theory thinking, I believe, stems from some sort of superiority complex, people that believe they know more than others. There are a tremendous amounts of evidence to prove all of the occurances you've mentioned. However, some refute the evidence and imply they know more than what can be proved. Ignore this kind of thinking, unless you are so inclined to argue his points with actual facts. Ask him what facts support his arguements.
