Hi, I'm Dutch.

Most Coffee shops offer good quality for a reasonable price. It depends on your personal style what coffee shop is best for you. No need to rush into the nearest place, there's nice "coffee" in every block.

There's coffee shop / internet café, coffee shop / reggae hangout, coffee shop / art gallery, coffee shop / shop till you drop, coffee shop / lunch bar, etc. etc.

You can check them out on this website, in the right column:

Also check this "chain" of Greenhouse Coffee shops:

Coffee in Amsterdam is strong stuff. If your not used to drink a lot of coffee, make sure you eat well before coffee, and drink lots of water before sleep. And what ever you do: don't buy your fun on the street, it's a rip off and only tourists fall for it !!!

Enjoy Amsterdam
with your head in the clouds
but your feet on the ground ;-)

Amsterdam is one of my favourite cities in the world...

And not for the reasons you might think, it has far more on offer than the coffee shops and red light district....

The coffee shops are everywhere and its just like a normal cafe you can buy ready rolled or cakes etc its just a way of life there

Mate, the coffee shops are fantastic for smoking weed. You can buy ready rolled white widow joints for 3 euros and they are beasts! Its so chilled out and everyone inside is friendly and good to talk too. The orange juice they had was of great quality too and you can watch them make it from fresh oranges right infront of you.

So dont be put off by how dark they look from the outside!

Whilst you're there I also recommend trying magic mushrooms, they were so mental. I didnt know the difference between talking to people and just thinking to my self, it was so funny! But even funnier for the people I was with, I imagine!

Its a great place for so many things, my thing there was just to chill out for a 3 days before I went back to work again and it was the best! I hope you find your thing there.

Have a good trip!

Yeah, Amsterdam seems like a nice place to visit. I hear the cafes ('coffee shops') are very cool. You walk in...and you have a menu of whatever is on offer. I think there is a limit and I think you have to stay there and 'drink your coffee'.
But, you can then visit the next cafe and then the next and next and next...lol

Yes you can! There are limits to how much "coffee" you can purchase at one time, and also designated areas within the bars for you to enjoy your "coffee". You can't just have your coffee anywhere.

It's probably too late to get good deal on air-fare but the best time for that is for the Cannabis Cup. I went to it a few years ago and it was a wonderful experience to be in a ACTUALLY ``free country'' unlike the OPPRESSIVE, TOTALITARIAN unholy union of POLICE STATES known as "America."

"God bless the USA." Yeah, RIGHT!
