Cryptology- (krip tal' e je) n. the study of secret codes or ciphers and the devices used to create and decipher them.
A cryptologist may create secret codes, or more likely, decrypt codes. Many developed countries employ cryptologists to break coded messages sent by foreign countries that they are interested in. The United States uses NSA (the National Security Agency) to do most of the cryptology.
