I just sat through lunch with a guy how if 100% percent that most of our history is made up but political groups. Like: "There was Holocaust in Germany. The Brits and Jews made up the whole thing to get America to help them in the war." "There was no Massacure at Nanking Chine, again all propaganda but the government." "Nobody has ever landed on the moon, It was faked in a warehouse in England." How could anyone really believe stuff like this. If you believe like he did, please don't be offended but I don't understand.

Uneducated louts every one of them...seriously, Some people only repeat what they hear others say because they don't have the intelligence to find out the facts for themselves. Don't be swerved by these statements, as they don't reflect historical fact. Spend some time in the library and look at pictures of the concentration camps in WW2. These were far too massive to have been staged. Talk to some of the survivors, if you can, and get their stories...Investigate this yourself, and make your own educated decision.

The Holocaust was a real event. I have traveled across Europe and have actually spoken with older German folks who while not actually nowing what went on knew that something terrible was going on. I have seen the gas chambers and the ovens. Those events did happen. Too hard to have faked photographs back then of all the emaciated prisoners.
Hanjing Massacre ?? Well the Japanese Government has owned up to it. Albeit they admitted to a lower body count, but they have admitted up to it so that should tell you that it did in fact occur. The only thing open for debate is the body count.
Lunar Landing ?? Now on that one.... I will have to say I just dont know. I mean I was barely alive and had no clue about it (Am only 40). At that time the US had to look good in the worlds eyes as we were second to launch anything into space. Otherwise the world was going to fall in to the Communists hands. So did the US have the technology to fake the lunar landing in the early 60's ?? Yes they did. Did they actually fake it ?? I dont honestly know. I hope not.

It is worth asking how we determine what is hiistorically true, and what is false, and to this extent your friend is performing a useful service.
Governments often distort or omit facets of history in school textbooks. This is true of democratic statea as it is of totalitarian ones, though the distortions are usually less acute. Indeed, some would argue that it is impossible to produce a historical account that does not distort to some degree.
