Run a virus scan and spyware sweep regularly. Using a well known site such as iTunes is safe enough, make sure there is a padlock icon on your browser when entering personal details.

There is no 100% safe way of paying for something, be it on the internet, or over the counter at a shop. Just take reasonable precautions, as described above.

Never give details as a result of a link from an email. Reputable firms will not ask you in this way - the link will be to a fake web page.

If you really want to make it safe then there is no option but to open a credit card account only for it and keep only the minimum amount needed in it.
