Absolutely!
And may I add, with uncontested power we get uncontroled arrogance.
Arrogance is what we've had until just recently, when the people spoke out!
Arrogance is like channel thinking...you only see things one way and nobody else can sway your thinking.
More troops? Better equiptment? Not having invaded to begin with? Getting world support first before invading? Use of high tech to thwart would-be enemies before they even hatch out of their perverted mother's eggs?
What a burden one carries when they adopt arrogance as their attitude!
Away with the old! Usher in the new!
Open all doors like Pope John Paul told us!
In time, the enemy retreats never to show his ugly head again.
Time cures all.
Thankyou.

lord acton's actual quote is "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely"......many people who have achieved power have remained true to their causes and avoided a corruption filled term of office....no this does not apply to bush and blair as their terms of office is now definite and they had never had the capacity to weild power with impunity

With a repuglican congress and a repuglican president we came as close to a dictatorship as I have ever seen in this country, there were no checks and balance and just look at the legislation that came out of it. The patriot act and the military act are suppression of our rights as citizens pure and simple. Even though it may have been for the right reasons it was still wrong to trash our constitution and I do think that the courts will throw both of these things out.

Yes it does...and democrats and all other parties. It disgusts me to see fat bloated politicians in office 20-30-40 years or more I believe term limits should be enacted.

Not necessarily, but think on this:
The LAST person that you can trust to be elected/appointed/promoted into a position of power is the wanker who actually applies for the job.

No, because they don't have absolute power. In America there are checks and balances to keep this from happening. That's why we have congress and the senate.
