I use nicotine patches. Why do the instructions say not to cut them?

I wouldn't go so far as to say you could die from nicotine poisoning by cutting the patch, but they are designed for a particular rate of release. You break the containment system by cutting it. Some of the drug may leak out and never even get absorbed. So you have no way of knowing how much you are getting.

Patches are slow release if you cut them the nicotine will release to soon. You can die from nicotine poisoning
