make sure 'hold' switch is off
then slide it on then off
press the menu and centre button until the apple logo comes up..., you may need to get the free iPod updater from apple.com x
(it takes 4 hours min to fully charge it, if it still wont go, email me.)

As it is charging try turning it on, press and hold the centre button and the play button together ( this resets the iPod ) ensure the button lockswitch is turned off! No I am not being cheeky my friend thought hers was broken until I pointed out the problem.
Other than that leave it charging for a good while as the other suggest.

if you had left your ipod on then it is completely dead.
what type is it? an older iPod's battery isnt as reliable and probably all fuzzed up by now.
iPods usually take about 3 hours to charge fully however if nothing works, contact Apple or buy a new battery/iPod
i think the same thing happened to my friend, i dont know what she did, i think she brought a new one
hope it was a help

check the hold switch on the top and make sure it is off.(if it is on u will see the orange strip, if it is off u will not see the orange) if it is on, turn it off and press the center button. u should see the apple logo. if it is off try pressing and holding the center button, or toggling the hold switch.if it still doesn't work i would suggest calling the customer service line.
