Yes ! It is a natural way of body defence Mecahnism,When ever there is more UV radiation the pigments called Melanin which are deeply situated in fair skinned people, in the skin they tend to travel to the surface to protect the skin from this radiation ! They will migrate back once the radiation is stopped ! Thats why you find people working in Sun normally are darker than people working in enclosed AC rooms ! Any way this is an temperory phase and you really need not worry about it !! Congratulations on the New arrival !

My daughter was born at 34wks and had jaundice as well. I remember her turning red. She was under it for a couple hours for a week. We asked the nurse if that was normal and she said it's like getting a healthy suntan!! After a day or two she was back to normal. It's not really because of the rays, I think. It's suppose to effect the cells or something under your babys' skin.

here's a website explaining more! GOOD LUCK

It's probably because the baby was getting a tan from the UV rays. If one of the parents has darker skin then the baby might have inferited the skin tone. It usually takes a couple of days for the skin to change colors.

my daughter had jaundice when she was born i had a walbee set up in my house so she can stay under the light 24 hours a day. My daughter skin did get darker the doctor said because her cells in her body where working to heal her jaundice. She went back to normal in a week or so. i would not be to worried unless he starts turning yellowish like hes jaundice has come back

Well, just like if you go tanning you get dark. My daughter had jaundice too, she was dark from the beginning though because her jaundice was bad. He will turn back to his normal color later. Although me and my husband are fair and she is still dark to come from us. Anyways It is nothing to worry about.

The UV rays make it darkish. it really is why the glasses do not turn darkish in a automobile. Windshields have a UV ray protection on them so the UV rays are already saved out. My mom chanced in this out even as she tried transition lenses. they did not artwork contained in the motorcar even as she necessary them maximum and the well-being care specialist reported it replaced into because the UV rays couldn't make it contained in the motorcar.
