Of course the Moon is closer than the Sun.

The average distance from the earth to the sun, the semimajor axis of its orbit, is 149,597,890 km.

Moon's orbit is elliptical: its average orbital radius is 384401 km, apogee (farthest distance from the Earth) is 406700 km, and perigee (distance of closest approach to the Earth) is 356400 km.

THE MOON, or we'd all be dead.
The moon was probably made in the early years of our solar system with the earth got shattered into pieces. The moon was made from the Earth's crust, thus it's low nickle/iron content.

Did you know the sun in closer to the Earth than the North American Winter?

That the Moon always has the same side pointing to Earth.

A "Day" on the Moon is, thus, 28 Earth Days.

The actual color of the moon's surface is as black as coal!

You cannot see stars and the earth at the same time on the moon (They are extremely faint)

The Peaks of Eternal Light at the North Pole almost always have sunshine, thus making them a good place for a lunar Solar Power.

sun is 1000 times more far away from earth than moon
it is clear from the text that the temp. of sun is 6400celcius and if it will be closer than moon to earth than not a single cell will be left
