I would check out the PRIDE pages for your town. Almost every city in the US has an active PRIDE organization and some bigger ones will put out lists of specialists who are GLBT friendly.
Don't ever go to a straight counselor for GLBT issues, its just too hard to get past the "I just don't get it" part and get some real active counseling.
