I've just got my period but it's so bad!! I feel sick all the time, my have extremly bad stomac cramps. It's not usually this bad. I've taken some pain killers but they havn't made a difference. I've also tried heat pads and baths. Does anyone know any ways to help? Thank you. x

You might want to try ibuprofen. Prostaglandin levels that are high increase the uterine cramping and pain, and ibuprofen works as a prostaglandin inhibitor.

If you are lucky enough to be able to stay at home, then also try a heating pad over where the cramping is - that may help some too. A nice hot bath also might help.

Best of luck to you, hope you feel better soon.

Having thankfully never had to go through this myself, you can take my advice with a heaping helping of salt. But I've heard that things like diet and stress can effect the severity of a woman's period. My sister claims that contrary to popular belief, eating chocolate (or following other intense cravings) just before your period may actually be good for you. Unfortunately, nothing I've said so far helps you in the here and now.

Try Midol or Pamprin. That may help.
It sounds like you're doing the right thing with the heat and all.
If it doesn't clear up, then go to the ER. Maybe it's more than just a period this time.

sometimes,it depends on where you put the heating pad. some girls like to lay on their sides, while clutching the heating pad close to their stomach.some girls like it on their back.sometimes you think the pain is coming from your stomach, but it's your back.some girls just like to lay there with it on their stomach.i'd try midol.that seems to help..good luck!
