sleep!!
It's now 6:50am where I am on a saturday and the sun is up.
I have an 90 minute interview for a position and I keep seeing myself failing. I can't deal with this. My interview is at 3pm.

I go between stages of feeling like I cant do it and stages of feeling like Im never gonna make it. WHY cant I be stable, or like that confident kid that just dominated in my discussion group.

I had a freakout at work today when I was put on a section for which I just learned how to do. I had to ask my supervisor to send someone else when the line started getting backed up and the sandwhiches were getting burnt!!! I just plain freaked out because the patrons were looking at me funny.

I don't even know if I want to do this anymore. Its for a leadership position at my college. It will last about a month and have extensive trianing if Im accepted. I feel like Im gonna be so outta my element, help me guys!!!

thanks.....
=(

its 7:05 now!!!!!

First off...you can do it. You can win this interview. How do I know?

a) You have recognized the challenge
b) You are seeking help in finding a solution. This act is a sign of confidence and security. NEVER be ashamed to ask for help. It is a sign of higher intelligence.
c) There is still plenty of time to prepare and be ready.

First, find yourself a professional notebook (not a binder) with preferably a dark cover on it. You will take this notebook with you to your interview. Bring a good quality pen for taking notes and jotting things down that come to mind whenever the interviewer speaks.

You are going to build for yourself a simple, clear "script" or a set of crib notes for you interview. If you get nervous at any point during the conversation, you just need to steady yourself and get back on message my looking down at your notes. The interviewer will be VERY impressed that you have prepared for the interview and will think positively of you. You will write information in groups of 3.

Page 1 - On the first line of the page in bold letters, write 3 points that identify your real strengths that you will bring to the role or position that you are interviewing for today. Space the three points so they can quickly and easily be read. Write the points clearly so you don't have to search for them while conversing with the interviewer.

Next, write 3 intelligent and thoughtful questions about the job that you can ask. One very powerful question is this, "How does this position help you (the interviewer) accomplish your key goals or objectives?" You will not need more than 3 questions.

Next, write 3 simple notes on things that you have accomplished that demonstrate you could do this job.

Next write these three phrases in big letters that you can read:
+ Breath deep and relax. RELAX RELAX then you are at your best
+ Gently half smile after each question or answer.
+ Look the interviewer directly in the eyes when you speak

If you complete this set of notes, rehearse it a few times by yourself or with a friend, by the time your interview comes around you will be smooth as silk and smart as a fox.

Remember...you are a competent, hard working, and intelligent worker. Write that phrase at the very top of the page in capital letters and at the very bottom of the page. Say they words to the interviewer when you shake their hand at the end of the session.

Best wishes for your complete success.

PS - I am a retired Chief Operating Officer of a major company. I know you can do this...so should you.

Take a deep breath. You may be on your interview already but if not, make sure you look your best, neat and professional. Practice answering questions they may ask. You can pull questions off career sites on the internet. When you are in the interview, be pleasant and relaxed, not fidgety. Maintain eye contact, keep hand movements minimal and try not to squirm. It's hard if you are really nervous but do your best. If you get the position, it will be tough for a little bit because you may be a little out of your element and that's always scary. But learn as much as you can, stay positive etc and others around will soon be impressed with your hard work and you will no longer be out of your element. Think of how great this will look on your resume and how many doors it could open if you continue on. Sure, it will be a tough month for you but what a feeling of accomplishment you will have after you have completed the month successfully. Much luck to you!

I know, I have problems like this when I have to deal with interviews too. Just keep this in mind: Just because you go to the interview doesn't mean you have to accept the position. If you decide you don't want it, you can always turn it down. Just go into the interview with no expectations and see how it goes, then make your decision later. Having doubts about whether or not you want it right now will just make you more nervous at your interview. Do the best you can today, but don't give the matter too much importance in your mind or it will stress you out.
You sound kind of like my sister. She is amazing in every way: Beautiful, smart, funny, down to earth-- but for some strange reason she has this fear of failure that keeps her from achieving almost anything. Don't let your fears keep you from realizing your full potential! Just go for it. How important is one little interview anyway?

First of all...take a deep breath. Take 10 minutes to clear your mind, taking deep breaths and think of something calming like walking on the beach for 10 minutes. Focus on your breathing.

Second...if you interview you can always turn it down, interview THEM about the opportunity and decide if you want it.

Third...if you don't get the opportunity it is not the end of the world. I have felt this way before, and really, life goes on. You will have lots of opportunities in your life. Don't hinge all your happiness on this one thing.

Fourth...take a hot bath.

Now, it sounds like you have a lot of stress in your life. Being anxious is normal with everything going on. Don't scare yourself into thinking that you are not "stable". You are fine, just having a tough time of it. Everyone has stress, and everyone has felt the way you are feeling. Just focus on being relaxed by doing the first step over and over, trust that everything will be OK, and move forward.
Live for just today, don't project into the future.

try for a few hours sleep, then get yourself into the shower and just chill out for a while, let the water take away your fears and think of all the negative energy leaving your body and being washed away, then prepare for the interview by dressing up as neatly as you can, wear perfume that reminds you of a calmer time in your life but dont over do it.chew gum right up until you enter the interview room but not during the interview and try to relax if the interviewer is any good at his/her job then they will understand how you feel and make allowances for nerves.speak clearly, dont fidget and smile if you start to panic try imagining them with no clothes on.good luck :O)

Just close your eyes and do nothing! stop thinking so much!

If you don't get enough sleep, you're gonna drain yourself out, and there's an interview on the line, so you better make sure you get some rest.
Play some soft music and drink some water, close your eyes and put yourself to rest and RELAX. Don't get tense and take out all useless thoughts from your head.

Or you could try tiring yourself :) Play some taxing video games or watch a boring lecture. That's gonna push the snooze...
