I am fed up of hearing people brag about it. They are just dicks who have nothing in their lives.

I packed up smoking weed because I was fed up with asswipes that are associated with it. They think they are so clever I was really a wake up call to get out of it.

They exaggerate or try to come up with biggest high experience they can muster. Most of it is bullsh*t or just for bragging to their contemporaries who stupidly listen in awe and amazement.
I have people at work who think they are so hip and so I am the one when in reality they have no money no good things in life it is wasted on their next fix.

The only people that think drugs are the in thing to do are the ones taking drugs! Take drugs long enough and it will ruin your life. I think you did the right thing by quitting weed; now hang out with people that think the same way you do. Drugs are dumb & dangerous, life is complicated enough without adding a drug habit to it. Good Luck, there are normal people everywhere that have fun without drugs.

People have been taking drugs for centuries. Hitler was a coke head (he had cocaine eye drops), completely out of it on barbiturates most of the time. In Victorian times they were taking arsenic, opium and all sorts. Things like weed, coke are illegal whereas alcohol and tobacco are not but equally addictive and can be as dangerous to your health and mental state.

I think like booze, drugs are a choice and if you let it use you, you get in serious trouble. Bottom line is drugs and booze are not worth it. It wrecks lives if you cannot control the amount you do it, so it is easier to avoid it all together.

Some of these 'dicks' may use drugs moderatly, like champagne, others may be trying to block out something awful they have been a part of and others have just crossed over that blurred line of a good time to serious addiction.
I bet you still go down the pub, even if you do not touch illegal drugs anymore, who are you to judge?

Drugs have been around since the beginning of time. Kids think it's cool because it is illegal! It happened in my parents time, my time and now my kids time! The only difference now is the information is so freely available and people are more open about it. Cocaine was a social drug in the 1920's. Speed was used by lorry drivers in the 1950's. Pot was widespread in the 1960's and heroin was "en vogue" in the 1970's. In the 1980-90's, it was coke again! I know my sons have used drugs and I make a point of telling them it ain't big and it ain't clever! When I took drugs, we couldn't brag about it because we would have been ostracised or arrested! Now, no-one seems to care any more!

I gave up weed too because I noticed a year went by without me being a significant part of it.

People bragging about drugs is no different to the "cool" people who stand around in a pub making sure you see them drinking Stella and smoking cigarettes... something that everyone is doing in a pub!

your always going to have the stereotypical thing going on......like most heroin addicts are gonna attack you for money, people who smoke dope are going to become psychotic, people who take pills are clubbers, and so on and so on. The reality of it, that there are small numbers of people who fit into this sterotypical view point, whats more important is the peer pressure young people have to conform to a particular group. Much more harm reduction information should be available in schools, so that its a long term problem that should be solved......just as much if you take drugs or drink alcohol then its something to be proud of and makes u hard...........personally, people who take drugs or drink alchol because they are escaping emotional problems, should have empathy and support....although u cant take away peoples choices etc etc etc.......

People take drugs for a number of reasons.

The peer-pressure and cool element are not to be ignored - they are real big pressures that are tough to resist.

Remember that caffeine, nicotene and alcohol are also drugs so if you are puritanical, be sure these drugs are avoided also.

People are getting more & more desperate not just to have a good time, but to be seen to be having a good time. Its part of our overly competitive, modern way of life.
