Check out national stores like Gander Mountain, Sportsman's Warehouse, and Big Five for high powered rifles. Check out http://www.gunbroker.com for guns online.
Check out http://subguns.com for classified ads for machine guns and other NFA weapons. While the Federal government has no laws banning machine guns (contrary to some of the idiots that post here), some states ban them. There is a $200 tax to transfer ownership of a machine gun, and they cost $3,500 to $15,000 for the cheaper ones. Feeding a machine gun can be expensive too.

There are 2 different places that I know of; Sporting Goods Shop or most all pawn shops. And yes it is legal.

the best place to buy high powered guns is usually at gun shows. there are different regulations on what can be sold.
