No, this will not work properly. Mainly because of your intent to use the same account, you can only be logged in once.
The better solution is to use one modem, but change it to an "ADSL MODEM ROUTER" and then you can connect several computers to that. If you make it a Wi-Fi router then you don't need to lay wires around the house if they are in different places (as you say)

In order to use a second DSL modem you would have to pay to have a second DSL line run into your home. It would double your monthly DSL bill to do that. Or you can only run one modem at a time. You did list the correct solution, which is a router. Depending on where you physically locate the router you may be able to run cables to both the PS2 and the desktop and not lose any signal. (Plus most of the time the wireless connection (54mbpd) is still faster then your ISP (6 mbps), so you really don't lose anything.)

One one phone-line, NO. If you had a second incoming line you could, but it would still work out more expensive than simply increasing your monthly bandwidth & d/l limits.
Better to get a wireless router, or better yet, to update your modem to a "gateway" router, which is a router and adsl modem in one unit.
To use the wireless router with your PC's, you will either need to attach the PC directly via an Ethernet cable or get a Wireless network card installed

I think you should ask your DSL provider. They might not even charge extra and then it would be done correctly. Or you could call tech support and learn whether possible or not without alerting the company's police group.
