second to close in genes so the kids have a really high chance of becoming mentally retared

because the genetic material is so close the babies usually have birth defects or some form of deformities.

Inbreeding may result in a far higher expression of deleterious genes within a population than would normally be expected. As a result inbred individuals are more likely to show physical and health defects, including:

* reduced fertility both in litter size and in sperm viability
* increased congenital disorders
* fluctuating facial asymmetry
* lower birth rate
* higher infant mortality
* slower growth rate
* smaller adult size
* loss of immune system function.

The reduced genetic diversity that results from inbreeding may mean a species may not be able to adapt to changes in environmental conditions. Where a species becomes endangered, the population may fall below a minimum whereby the forced interbreeding between the remaining animals will result in extinction.

It is possible for a population to become inbred without inheriting deleterious traits. For instance the cheetah is a highly inbred species, resulting from a population bottleneck. Many island species are also highly inbred. This is more likely in a population where natural selection is acting.

They can, it is just not at all advisable, as the odds of lethal gene reinforcement are MUCH higher with close relatives.

When a brother and sister breed, there is about a 25% chance of the baby being born either dead or severely handicapped/deformed, due to gene reinforcement.

25% may not sound very high, but that's one in four. For non-related couples, the odds are far less, around 2 or 3 percent.

Because there would be a disasterous combination of DNA and the strong possibility of severe birth defects to the offspring.

cause they have almost the same kind of genes and chromosomes,due to which there are more chances of some deformalities formed in babies born in such couples.

Similar chromosomes cause genetic defects, or so it was believed until recently.
