Around that time there was a lot of money floating around to buy success and the would-be new romantics were there in their thousands. One that stands out as a celebrated fiscal failure was a band called Hanoi Rocks who were a Finnish post-punk band with a Brit drummer. All the others mentioned so far have had commercial success.

Was it Sigue Sigue Sputnik? They were awful though I think they had one or two hyped up or doctored hits. They were signed to EMI - makes you wonder why the record companies don't sign & promote talent instead.
Dream Theatre are an excellent & very talented band that still play though they aren't my personal favourites.

Is there anything "symbolic" about them that may help lend a clue? I mean...honestly, almost EVERY band in the early 80's were styled after Duran Duran !LOL---kinda hard to narrow that one down, know what I mean???
