im a life long metallica fan,but not clued up about recent bands of a similar genre.?

can anyone recommend a band with recent material that i might like?not too heavy,definatly not into death metal.

apparently trivium (although i personally dont think so, but everyone's got a different opinion)...the media's making a huge buzz about them being the next metallica.

cant think of anything 'recent' (which is anything that isn't iron maiden or motorhead) that's similar to old metallica, but for stuff closer to the st anger period, try system of a down. For musically brilliant bands, have a listen to Dream Theatre and Muse

I am one of those ones that says after Justice I do believe. I hate the Black Album with a passion that burns, but see with Me it's just personal preference, they went from making Music that thrilled Me to making Music that bored Me. But I'll not say that they sold out. They evolved, which to My mind is a pretty necessary process for a long-running successful Band. Honestly Peach Man, as a Metalhead I hate to say anything negative about My own kind, but if the shoe fits...It's like this, I think elitism is pretty common amongst a lot of Metalheads, sadly. That is where the "Metallica sold out" comes from. Too much narrowmindedness. And frankly too while We are at it. I have yet to see a Band stay "fresh" longer than 10 to 12 years, ever. Some Bands may have 40 year careers but they say pretty much everything meaningful they need to say in the first 10 years generally.

my hubby is too and likes Trivium (the 2nd album is better).

I tend to look on Amazon and they will recommend bands to you
if you type in Metallica.

Also Kerrang Mag is a good source of information.

Believe it or not there is a Chinese heavy metal band called "Tang Dynasty" who I came across on YouTube. Didn't understand a word but they turn out a good performance.
