Why is it that Christians and Catholics call Atheists or other people who are religious ignorant? In my opinion following God or Jesus blindly, just because of faith, is ignorant. Not facing reality is ignorance. God has never, NOT ONCE, answered my prayers. I used to be a faithful and loyal Christian, I followed His word, read it, and nothing....Was I just damned to start with? Is it possible that I was never meant to be a Christain? Or is "God's Love" only meant for some? Or, even further still, is God just something that some people need to believe in to feel better about themselves? (And, by the way, I never prayed out of selfishness, only that my family would some day soon not be so dysfunctional.)

My friend , the very same questions and doubts are being raised by the followers of EVERY religion around the world.Except that they have named their god differently. They are yet to find an answer.
Till mankind is there they will never get any answer. For a time the mankind expected science to give then an answer but , now, they know that science stops far short of this .

In the first God never proclaimed that he is there to help out every person needing help. Because of his ( creator`s) awesome power , displayed all around us , all the time, we believed that God is so powerful and caring that he would take care of small , little problems. These are our assumptions.

Try accepting the Eastern philosophy of "Karma" theory.Every action has a reaction. The reaction need not necessarily be immdiate. It can take many thousand years too. Today`s my problems are the reactions to my earlier actions , deemed un humanly or unethical. By the same vein , if I do good things in my life the reaction in the next birth will stand me in good stead.

Beware of your religious teachers . You may fall foul of them.

Ignorant describes one who ignores or disavows.

In the eyes of theists, people who fail to see or choose not to see God's presence around them are therefore ignoring God's existence. Logically then, such a person is either incapable of perceiving OR decides not to perceive (overlooks and ignores). People with strong religious convictions resort to calling others names at this point.

Atheists, on the other hand, find no value in name calling because atheists tend to be driven by empirical facts and causality (meaning something ONLY happens because of something that preceded it).

The nature of your question indicates that you are following the path that hundreds of millions of people before you have walked. You have free will to decide your own religious convictions provided you live in a "free country" like the USA.

Ask yourself just WHERE does the inner sense of being loved come from? Does it come from outside of you or within you? The answer isn't what you might first think.

If you speak to any person who is truly devoted to their religion, you will likely find them having intense love of their God. They have no doubt or question about whether their god loves them back. Their total relationship with their god fuels their actions every day. It can also lead to blindness and intolerance.

After all, love is not an accounting system or a bank account where balances are tracked and maintained.

Belief in a god, or disbelief, frames your personal value system. It is your personal value system and how you practice it that determines the quality of your corporeal life.

Keep searching on the path and you will discover true love (both kinds) along the way. Just remember that "God does not draw with straight lines." The best is yet to come for you!

To start with Atheists are not ignorant. They have chosen that path for their own reasons, As far as God not answering prayers, it depends what you ask for and if you really believe and trust in God in the first place. God is not there just to sort out all of our problems. When we do ask for His help, we must be willing to do our bit as well and except His decision in the long term. He gives us what we not necessarily what we want. When you were a Christian, did you follow God's Word or the word of the church? Sometimes the two can differ. I realize, you may be disappointed in the fact that what you prayed for wasn't answered. Maybe God is waiting to see if you can do a bit as well. Read the Bible and trust that as that is the truth. Ask God for understanding and you may be surprised at the results. Try not to lose faith, is is a far harder road to travel once you have turned away completely and you will have even less chance of help. God does love all of us, trust me on that one.

You understand what he can control and what he can not. He can not control peoples free will, he can not stop people from hurting each other and families from breaking up, he made us free. I've never called an athiest ignorant for most of them just want truth. I understand the words that you have written, but what is your problem? Don't be offended by namecalling if it is not true. You don't need to be Christian to understand God, you need to have a good heart and soul. Many of us think we are owed, but we are not. All we have been giving is a chance. A chance at finding whatever in this life that may make you happy. I suggest you think about it, and try to pursue it. If you find love and good health and fortune then you are blessed. Goood luck

Well.. I can help you out a little base on one of my religion true story.. there's once a patriach from India came to China. And the emperor of China invited him over and asked

"I have always supported numerous monks and nuns, copied vast amount of sutras, build countless temple and take vegetarian diet. How much merits did I gained?"

The patriarch replied "none"

"How is that possible?"

The patriarch say "What you have done are what you hope to get as benefits from it in return. Merits are gain from the heart that are pure"

So yeah, you shouldn't be looking at the fact that God should be answering your prayers because that alone already reflects that you hope something gain out from your sincerity to God. You are faithful in God because you have faith in him.

God answered your prayers. He's a holy God, not our genie. I don't want this to seem hokey, just honest. Keep searching for truth.
