The USA is a government, not a land mass, and was created in 1776, not discovered.

If you mean who first landed here, opinions differ.

You could say the Asians did when they crossed the Bering Straits and migrated southward, becoming the Native Americans that Europeans found here when they first arrived.

The strongest theory is that Leif Ericsson, the VIking, landed in Newfoundland, an island off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada, long before any other white person did.

Christopher Columbus discovered some islands in the Carribean, not North America, which is where the USA is located.

Finally, the Spaniards De Soto and Pizarro wandered around the what is now Florida after the Mexican conquest, in the 1530s.

The United States of America are named for an Italian explorer, but not the one you'd think. it was actually named for Amerigo Vespucci, though nobody knows if he beat Christopher Colombus, who came in 1492 and is usually credited with discovering America.
