im always wondering why girls prefer pink and purpluey colours and boy prefer blue and green colours

I think it goes back to medieval times:). Little boys were prized because they could carry on the family name & (hopefully)marry someone with a large dowery to increase the family's lands. To trick the pixies (I think) boys were dressed in blues and greens to blend in with the surroundings while little girls were dressed in pink, sort of like a bait and switch. The colors got to be habit and that's why boys are dressed and raised to like blues and greens while girls like pink. I came across this info from a Wiccan website.

smile, it is a social and cultural association. When I was a little girl, my favourite colours were blue and green. I hated pink. In the african country where I am living, (Gambia) boys and men have no problems wearing bright pink clothing. It's merely cultural.

We are just programmed from birth to see pinks as 'girl' colours and blues as 'boy' colours.

Man, I hate pink... black, red and blue are my colors. Not all guys and girls prefer the same thing.

the media stereotyped us all, its an ideology that happens to be engrained in our minds, such as "the man goes to work while the woman stays at home and takes care of the kids"

gender socailisation-we grow up with specific toys for girls adn boys which give us messages on what is male and what is female.
