Ignorance and impatience... She'll learn to look down on them... And say things like "Oh, I'm sorry, is my being disabled getting in your way???" Especially in a REALLY loud voice to embarrass the person!!! ;)

I purposely found a school that encouraged diversity so that my children could see what the real world is like. As teenagers they are very respectful of all people. I just wish there was more acceptance of disability and cultures within schools and it would be natural for people to be kind and patient. If someone tutted at my disabled child and I have two with ASD I would tell them to get lost and make a scene of their inability to be a kind human being. While people get away with it they will continue to do it.

That's disgusting going on like that with your daughter. I think the majority of people in this country don't go like that, the ones that do should be ashamed of themselves and are ignorant and stupid. My mother is disabled and I would have something to say if somebody tutted at her, I would show them up for what they were, pathetic.

Because they are right foul gits who have no sense of what it is like to have a disability. It is bad enough to be disabled in some way, and frustrating for both the disabled child and parent, but do these slops care. Naaah. They were inconvienienced for a moment. Never mind those who will live with the disability for life.
I had two cousins, mongolid twin boys. My mother worked in a school with handicapped teenage, well young adult types. She loved them, they loved her. If she were still alive today, she would undoubtedly have harsh things to say about those who are vexed by your daughter.
I would say more, but I don't want to be smacked for saying something to have the Yahoo police ar*sed with me.
Blessings to you and your very special daughter!

I believe it is because their sub conscious is aware of the fact that what society calls a "disabled person", is actually an "advanced person". People have always been jealous of others that's why envy is one of the 7 deadly sins. These people who pretend to look down at the advanced people is an act of jealousy. Some people just can't stand the fact that some people are better than themselves. Doing things, performing, and thinking are just a few items that advanced people can do better than the envious ones.
So try to remember, when ever some idiot looks down on your daughter they are acknowledging her greatness.

I think it's natural if people act first based on their vision. Even you, how if you look an ugly and dirty man, will you talk nicely with him?
Similar with your case, people will do that until they know how useful and kind your daughter is. Sometimes one of them so jealous to you that you can care to your disable child.
So, be patient. Show the best you can do for your daughter and show your big heart to others. Please don't mind to them because they don't feel as you feel, and don't care too much of that.
Send your daughter to special school for disable people, she will learn more useful things for her in-dependency and her future according to her condition.
Take care.

hi, i have 4 disabled kids and people tend to talk to them at the top of the voice as if they are deaf or too stupid to understand, they go to a mainstream school that has adaptations and are in the top set for everything, i think it is because most people don't know how to react to disabled people or are even scared of them, they are too ignorant to get to know them or take the time to, it seems so much trouble for them.

I look at disable people sometimes, only because I feel for them and their families.

because people are ignorant. I have a trendy, young tattod brother who is wheel chair dependant. The amount of (usually) older people who verbally abuse him for parking in 'their' disabled space is unbelievable! He usually says...'certainly madam...now if you'll help me get my wheelchair our of the boot, I will move out the way for you....!
