ok so i've been getting into AFI and i'm just wondering which album i should buy. do i go for decemberunderground or do you recommend to start with an older album? and please, i don't want answers like, "AFI are a whining emo band they suck go buy the new iron maiden instead". and anyway i love iron maiden too. so yeah.. any suggestions? i love every kind of rock/punk/metal music so don't go for a certain type just tell me which one's best..

I'm going to disagree with all of you and say grab a copy of 'Black Sails In The Sunset'. Its the one album that is most of the mix of their newer/softer sound and their older punkier element. Its the first album with Jade on it. Also if you can, they have a self-titled album that has some of their best stuff before 'Sing The Sorrow'.

The best AFI album is without a doubt "Sing the Sorrow"
"The Art of Drowning" is also really good.
I personally didn't like "Decemberunderground"

Their best album is Sing The Sorrow in most people's opinion. All of AFI's Albums are very different from the former. The Art of Drowning is one of my favorites and the lyrics are very grand. Sing the Sorrow's lyrics arn't the happiest but its true intense emotion and easy to appriciate. Each song off of that ablum could be #1. If you like The Misfits or Sick of It All one of AFI's older albums would work nicely in your music collection. For AFI's Greatest work The Art of Drowning and Sing the Sorrow are your best choices. Then you can back track to the older.

Either the Art of Drowning or Decemberunderground. Both are good so go with what you want.

i would get sing the sorrow because i personally thing it is a lot better than decemberunderground. two other really good cds are "the art of drowning" and "black sails in the sunset".

so get sing the sorrow, then maybe december underground if you like it

after that black sails in the sunset, becuase you can see how their sound was in the past and how it changed into what it is now

and if you liek it get "very proud of ya"
its like old hardocre punk so it sound a lot different. listen to
advances in modern technology, shatty fatmus, and he who laughs last. for a feel of it

Their latest album is really great, so definitely go for that, but their older albums are pretty good too so don't hesitate in buying them as well. I love AFI and i love their most recent song "love like winter", it's a pretty awesome song. Anyways, go for their latest, it's great!!
