Biggest bonus from Vietnam was the yanks getting defeated(again!!)and retreating with their tails between their legs-just like what's gonna happen six months time in the middle east-yeehaaa-have it you thick cantfight lardasses!!!!!!

I agree the Deer Hunter is the best film I've seen from the Vietnam War period. Not sure it's a bonus that the USA were defeated I think it's very sad that all of those young men died or were maimed for what!!!!!!!!! Worse still it's still happening. You shouldn't blame the people for the mistakes of it's government, afterall is said and done Maggie was elected here.

The best serious one would have to be Full Metal Jacket. I am also a fan of Good Morning, Vietnam!.~~And on a side note...my dad fought in Vietnam and my boyfriend fought in Iraq. Unless you've fought in a war or for your country you need to watch what you say. Cause I happen to be VERY proud of the 2 most important men in my life. Maybe it's just because I'm from Oklahoma. But all I have to say is SUPPORT OUR TROOPS AND GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU FIGHTING FOR THE FREEDOM OF OTHERS!!!!! (and if you're gonna say Yee-Haw SPELL IT RIGHT!!!!!!)

Isn't it funny that the US got beaten in Nam but every film masde since shows them winning? Of course, this is from a nation which also makes numerous fils about how they 'won' the second world war - America always seems to be a national version of a bloke with a fast sports car and small willy - all gob and no substance.

for me its got to be Platoon, because of the death scene of wilem defoe, heartbreaking,(i think the music is amazing) but also i love the deerhunter, its the scene when de niro goes to see john savage in the vets hospital and is shown the drawer full of socks so he knows walken is still alive and goes to get him!!

Favorite true one is We Were Soldiers, which is damned close to being as good as those other two!
