How to tell if you have real Yu-Gi-Oh cards....

1. On the back of the card, on the lower right corner it should say Yu-Gi-Oh! with Trading Card Game in rather small letters.
2. The face of American Yu-Gi-Oh cards are matte, real Japanese cards have a shiny but strong face. Fake American cards have a shiny surface that peels easily.
3. On every card there is a collectors number or mark. Example, Penguin Soldier's collectors number is SDJ-022. Meaning it was in Starter Deck Joey and it was card number 22 in that set. In the case of Limited Edition cards they say "Limited Edition" in all caps where there would normally be a collectors number.
4. On the very bottom of every real card there are two things. A serial number, which is used to aquire cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh video games, and 1996 Kazuki Takahashi in all caps.
5. Real God cards are recognized by two things. The back of the card is always the same color as the God on the front and on the bottom where the serial number usually is it says "This card can't be used in a Duel." in either English or Japanese. Some of the earlier versions have Japanese on them and people sometimes think they're fake. But they are real.

Cards in languages other than this (most commonly Chinese) are fakes. Hologram - The hologram located in the lower right-hand corner should have the Eye of Anubis located on it. The foil that is used can sometimes be scraped off with a fingernail or is put on the card incorrectly. Fakes often have a blank/incorrect hologram or improperly placed hologram.
