I have had two types of reoccuring dreams since I was a little girl and I was wondering if anyone could give me any insight on what they might mean and why I am still having them.
First, I keep dreaming of sharks. When I was little the sharks in the dreams were no threat but the older I have gotten the more menacing they've become. Now it is one big shark, always the same exact shark.
The second dream is where I am in this huge old house, Like an old mansion. I can't get out of the house and there is this entity after me, and I am not talking normal ghost here, It's paralyzing in the dream like when it closes in on you, you can feel it coming at you from all sides and you can't talk or move but you can't see it you can only feel it.
I have woke up from that dream terrified and almost hyperventilating more then once.
I know they are odd dreams but I could really use any input you can give, serious input. Not the typical your a wacko answer alot of you want to give most people.

Recurring dreams mean unresolved and unidentified issues. Once something has changed in your outlook on life, the dream will change and then cease to occur.
Water = emotion. Shark = predator, danger. Dangerous emotions, fear of being consumed by emotions.
A house represents the person herself. A bogeyman points to an unrecognised side of your own personality.

Hello my darling. It is a dreadful thing to have such scary dreams but you can get rid of them. If you are not on medication of any kind that cause hallucinations then the dreams are a subconsious reaction. The one with the shark is your own insecurities. You may not think that you have them but your subconscious is telling you other wise. If you can be aware of the dream while you are having it rather than waking up remembering it after it has accured then you can punch the shark in the nose and make it go away. That is the easy part only if you are aware you are dreaming when you are having that dream. [I hope that makes sense to you]. You really have to question yourself harshly to find what it is that is making you insecure. It could be something as simple as catching a bus to work because you once saw a horror movie where someone was hurt doing just that same thing. Or it could be something bigger, such as marrying a man you are not really in love with, or fear of losing a lot of money. Meditate on it and it will come to you. The thing you have to remember is when these dreams started because that will be when the insecurity started. If you don't resolve the problem early then the dreams will continue and become compounded giving you more dreams like the one where you are trapped with an entity you feel is going to harm you. I know because I have been through the exact same thing. My husband has woken me when I have been whimpering, then I remember that I was so terrified of something that was after me that I could not even scream. These dreams always happened at a time when there was something happeing in my life that I had no control over and envolved money and my, or my families future security. Like the council not allowing us to build on a block of land we had paid for and wouldn't be able to sell for that reason. That is just one example and these things happen on the road that is the journey of our lives. The dreams won't kill you but not dealing with the problem can cause physical illness. Always remember that they are just that.....a dream. It would be nice if we didn't remember those dreams but somehow I think that they are remembered so we can face the insecurity, deal with it and get on with our lives even if it means some kind of loss such as money, possesions, home. Most can be replaced and your life becomes more peacful and horror dream free. Good luck.

People have subconscious fears and feelings they can't control and they are not aware of, so they keep getting bigger and find their way into the dreams. Try to think of the shark and think of a person, automatically, at first it will sound ridiculous and you will erase the thought, but the first person that comes to your mind is perhaps a person you have issues with. Try doing that before you read the rest of my answer.
In the subconscious, fear of death and sex related issues are combined. The shark could represent a suppressed Oedipus complex of some kind, representing the parent of the same sex, since you have had it since very young. It doesn't mean that you have any problem or hatred or bad relationship with that parent or that you should. It is something relating to your childhood. Or another menace you feel on some other level. The house represents some sort of anxiety. Try to relax. And don't be afraid of the dreams, they help your subconscious come forward and that helps your stability, really.

First dream, the shark is you, or more, your fears. (Hint trying to eat you alive)
Second dream is also you, something in your home.... hmmmm, sounds a lot to me like you are afraid to be yourself.
I understand this feeling. The best way I can deal with helping myself is to swing high on a swing.... really, it is one thing that helps a lot.
I also ask God/Goddess to help me with my fears, that helps a lot too. You can live! Don't run to drugs or alcohol, I did, just complicated things more, and kept the real issue away for longer, making it harder to be free of my deep fears and just live. You will be free, picture yourself a shark swimming.
And, picture yourself revamping each room, from deep down, tearing out walls, redoing the wiring, new floors and plumbing.
Then dance....!!!!! Laugh a lot and be amazed at what a gift you are to the world! I am, I love your question, we all have had scary dreams! Take care!

Sharks: "To see a shark in your dream, represents a person whom you see as greedy and unscrupulous. This person goes after what what he or she wants with no regards to the well-being and sensitivity of others. The shark may also be an aspect of your own personality which exhibit these qualities. Alternatively, you may be going through a difficult, painful, or unpleasant emotional period. The shark symbolizes feelings of anger, hostility, and fierceness. You may be an emotional threat to yourself or to others."

Houses: To see your home in your dream, signifies security, basic needs, and values. You may feel at home at your new job or you finally feel settled and comfortable in a new environment.

In particular, to see your childhood home or a home that you no longer live in, suggests your own desires for building a family. It also reflects aspects of yourself that were prominent or developed during the time you lived in that home. You may experience some feelings or unfinished expression of emotions that are now being triggered by a waking situation.

To dream that you cannot find your way home, indicates that you have lost faith and belief in yourself. It may also signify a major transition in your life.

I am not sure but I used to have a recurring dream about wolves chasing me( from the time I was just old enough to dream til I was in my late 30's.) I eventually moved to the country and got to see a wolf in the wild. Since then I have not had any more dreams about wolves.I now bellieve that the wolf was in my yard to let me know it was my totem. Sharks could be your totem animal.

Try to take control of your dreams. It's like the movie "The Cell"...your world, your rules. Shoot the sharks...try something similar w/ the ghosts.

Both dreams seem to indicate a general anxiety and a feeling of helplessness. This would seem to me in this day and age when we are regularly bombarded with elevated terror allerts that this should not be alarming to you.

Get the facts and you will feel better and your dreams will be less anxiety ridden.
