Yes, they are dishonest, and yes, they are forced to be. When the school administration says you must tell your class this or that, or the teacher's union does, the teacher usually knuckles under and tells the lie. Then it may be necessary to admit to friends and associates that one has been bullied into lying to one's class.
I do not envy teachers in American schools ever since the teacher's union took over. They are bullied on all sides.

Teacher's in the U.S. have been lying since the pilgrim's landed . Everything taught to our children about my people (Native American) is a lie. They have to teach the chosen curriculum but a lie is a lie. Just recently some of these lie's have been brought to light by educated NA's. It won't ever change. They have to keep up the lie's . If not the world would see how ugly the founder's haha of this country truly are. They are being taught all across this country about the great feast and friendship of Thanksgiving. In reality it was a deceitful ruse and a massacre of my people. Is it dishonest? yes. Is it disloyal? depend's on who you ask.

Yes, if teachers lie, especially to students and children, they are dishonest and disloyal. Yes, this applies to friends and social politicals as well.
Teachers, more than anyone should be honest and respectful. They are sending messages to our children. A bad teacher can ruin a child's life. It is impossible to fight them, they have the political power.

If teachers lie for the good of children then they are not dishonest.
But if they lie for selfishness on their part then they are dishonest.
Just like teachers in china , here they gave such punishment to two infant kids which could shame whole teacher hood. That teacher made those kids to drink a kind of white liquor or get them drunk with
most strongest liquor.

If ANYone lies they are dishonest no matter what their profession.
Lying to a child is really worse, because a child is more forgiving than an adult anyway !!
You really cannot compare lying to a child with lying to an adult.
I think that it is more forgiveable to lie to an adult than a child.
I hope you are not a teacher with something of concern on your conscience.
