I am with BT but they say to have wireless I would need to pay £27 per month, are there any decent quality providers around for cheaper?

A wireless broadband connection shouldn't cost any more or less than a wired connection, unless they're providing a "free" wireless kit to get you connected, and charging for it in your monthly fees.

You can buy the kit to get wireless for less than £100 now, including a wireless access point/router and wireless adapters for your PCs, and then if you're happy with BT keep using them. The access point will maintain your connection, and when you boot your PC it will connect to the access point, and thus to the internet.

In my experience you want to avoid AOL and NTL if you have any intention of privacy, or if you intend to play games over the internet.
