Now I dont want her to work as I feel that she has enough to do looking after 9 kids at home
I earn enough to keep us all but I respect her and have never stood in her way before
Should I stand up to her now and forbid it

good heavens! When I first read this, I thought, good for her - of course she should work if she wants to! But 9 children! Well, I guess the extra money would be handy! and she might really wan to do this, so give her a chance. Of course it does mean you'll be doing half the child care and housework, but you should be able to sort it between you. Don't forbid it - there's no point - it will just cause rows and ultimatums. But do talk, as there will be some changes, I am sure! But.....change isn't necessarily a bad thing

Talk to her and find out why she wanted a job. Looking after kids is important work, but when you're in the middle of that, it can seem tedious and not worthwhile. Maybe she needs something besides that to increase her self esteem. Work out a plan, where she can achieve what she wants while you're also happy about it. Don't forbid her to work, that will only increase the unhappy feelings she probably already has.

Ahaaa, this is a sure sign of Griebaturism, very rare, but I have come upon it before, not here in England but while touring the Keys in Florida, one of the islands is called Marathon, there they have a family who are called the Griebats, this family have been inbreeding for close to three centuries, in some severe cases namely one in France shortly after the first world war, they hung Herbert Montaray Griebats, thinking him a monkey, sounds crazy I know. The condition of Griebaturism manifests itself by way of covering either parts or in rare cases all of the body with excess hair. I would suggest not considering building a family as the horror of bearing a chimp like child to be too much to bear. Lots of luck to you

Forbid?
Which century are you living in?
Who the hell are you to forbid her anything?
Marriage is a partnership not a dictatorship.
I think getting a job is a great idea, especially if she has nine kids as you say. It will give her a feeling of self-worth which, considering your comments, she does not get at home.
Good Luck to her.

As long as the job isnt interfering with the care of your children then I dont see the problem, after all, there will be an extra wage coming into the house.
Why dont you try cooking your own meals now and again? You could take turns.

Is this a windup?

If not would you be happy looking after 9 kids everyday
Should she stand up to you and make you stay at home.

Let the Woman live her life she aint just a mum and a wife.

You have to realize that everybody will feel boring and stress to do the same and regular daily activities. Specially home-work like wife's work at home. The same situation, the same works and the same problems (children, husband, cooking, washing, etc.) They are too boring to be faced everyday. She need new situation to make her fresh.

As well as she can finish her responsibilities well, I think it's OK. How can you let your wife to become boring and stress? About home-works, you can hire a servant or/and baby sitter to do some works.

For meals, if you allow your wife to work, she have to prepare well everything before go to work. Servant can help her to prepare those all.

For other things, you have to try to do by yourself. So, what do you think?
